You Are Not Alone

When a loved one is suffering from early signs of dementia, it can be a very daunting time for all who care for them. This is something which affects millions of people throughout the world and the figure is likely to rise over the next few years. By 2025, the forecast is for the total number of sufferers to be around 1 million in the UK alone.

The question is, how would you know what to do for your loved one who is showing early signs of the condition?

Understand the Condition

The first step is to understand the type of dementia you are dealing with. This will dictate the kind of care required to minimise the trauma experienced by the sufferer. It will also establish the care options available, giving you time to prepare accordingly. At Dunley Hall we specialise in Dementia Care. We understand the needs of dementia sufferers and their care-givers, and how to make their lives as pleasant and normal as possible.

A New Normal

Remember, it doesn’t mean their lives are over because of this condition. Far from it.

Over the years, treatment of dementia has improved enormously. From medication that slows symptoms through to straight forward lifestyle changes, understanding of how to reduce the impacts of dementia has advanced in recent years. Together with support from their families and carers, people living with the condition can lead normal lives. Families of sufferers can be reassured, knowing there is support there to make the journey easier.

At Dunley Hall, our Dementia Care Home has many Dementia sufferers, all of whom ahve varying stages of the condition. This has certainly not hindered their overall enjoyment of life in any way as our dedicated specialist staff ensure they are supported and respected as if it were their very own family
